Tuesday, July 29th, 2008August is a very busy month in the East Devon area, Summer is here (although someone should tell the weather that!) and holiday-makers are flooding into the South West. For the next few weeks the beaches and tourist attractions will be packed, but never fear, there are plenty of activities lined up that will keep you entertained, rain or shine (but most likely rain).
From the 1st of August till the 8th, Sidmouth will be hosting the Sidmouth Folk Festival, an annual event that sees some of the UK’s best folk acts congregate in Devon for a week filled with music, singing, dancing, pub sessions, workshops, concerts, storytelling, cream teas and lying on the beach. For those that have never experienced the folk week before, it can be thought of as a collection of smaller festivals in the same place at the same time, with something for everyone and a very friendly atmosphere. Artists performing during the week include Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill, Show of Hands, Blowzilla, Dick Gaughan, Karine Polwart and many more.
